For the past 10 years, Art Basel Miami has generated huge crowds with what some refer to as the most prestigious art show in the Americas. The sister event to the Art Basel Switzerland, takes place this year from Dec. 6-9.

This year, more than 260 galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa are showcasing more than 2,000 artists of the 20^th and 21^st centuries. All forms of art will be showcased: renowned artists, newcomers, projects by emerging artists, public art projects, performances, video and sound art.

Major displays will be shown in the Miami Beach Convention Center in South Beach. However, other art displays will be set up at various locations all over South Beach, Downtown and Bayside Park.  Wynwood Design District, the up and coming art district in Miami, has many art exhibits year round and opens its galleries to the public on a monthly basis. They too, will be hosting various Art Basel events.

Observers say that Miami is gaining stature internationally because of the growth of arts and culture, as well as its ability to attract business from places including Russia, Asia and Latin America. The Wynwood Design District is at the center of this expansion. Many warehouses, shops, galleries and fine dining have taken off and the arts are flourishing.
